Growing up in the picturesque village of Lytell Stangdale, with the North Yorkshire Moors as their playground, Joss and Ella were best friends. The pair were inseparable.
Until the day something happened to ruin their friendship and Joss moved away.
An urgent telephone call summons Joss back to the village. His father’s been rushed to hospital and he’s needed to run the farm. When he returns, with his loyal canine companion, Sid, in tow, it isn’t long before he realises things aren’t as they seem. Why is his brother, Rich, being so evasive? And why does he get the impression the farm’s in trouble?
Teaching Assistant, Ella, has just broken up for the Christmas holidays and is looking forward to spending more time on her parents’ farm, tending her variety of rescue animals and recharging her batteries.
It isn’t long before the pair run into one another and sparks of attraction begin to fly – not that either of them will admit to it. But, just before Christmas, they find themselves thrown together in an unexpected turn of events as a fierce snow blizzard rages around them.

Q&A
Hi Els, thanks so much for your great questions, and also for taking part in the blog tour for A Cosy Countryside Christmas.
So, without further ado, let’s get started!
Where and when do you prefer to write?
I prefer to write in the early morning before the rest of the house is up (especially in spring and summer when it’s light). I love the peace and quiet at that time, with the only noise being from the birds chattering away in the garden. I have a little writing room, where I can leave all of my stuff set out without fear of it getting disturbed.
Do you have a certain ritual?
I’m afraid I’m going to have to be very boring and say, no, I don’t have any rituals.
Is there a drink or some food that keeps you company while you write?
There certainly is! I always have a large mug of strong Yorkshire Tea on the go, and it’s even better if there’s a ginger biscuit to dunk into it. These two things definitely help the writing process.
What is your favorite book?
That’s an easy one to answer: Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte. A truly breath-taking read.
Do you consider writing a different genre in the future?
I’d love to write a time-slip novel, and have scribbled down some ideas in a notebook. I’m not sure when I’ll get round to it though as I have so many other books and series planned.
Do you sometimes base your characters on people you know?
No, that’s not something I’ve ever done. All my characters come straight from my imagination.
Do you take a notebook everywhere in order to write down ideas that pop up?
Yes, always! I have notebooks in all of my handbags, just in case. Ideas can spring into your mind at the most unexpected moments. I always scribble them down as it’s so easy to forget them.
Which genre do you not like at all?
I wouldn’t say I dislike it as such, but I wouldn’t be tempted by a book containing lots of horror. I’d be too scared to read it!
If you had the chance to co-write a book whom would it be with?
Without a doubt, I’d have to say Milly Johnson. She’s an awesome author and her books are a real joy to read.
If you should travel to a foreign country to do research, which one would you choose and why?
I’d choose Italy for so many reasons: its beautiful cities and regions with wall-to-wall stunning architecture, the people are so welcoming and friendly, the food is amazing and the climate is rather nice too.
